WILDLIFE LIFESAVERS RECEIVE DONATION FROM BEAR SCOTLAND

June 3, 2026

Highland Wildlife Rescue, a small charity providing care for injured and mistreated wildlife across the Scottish Highlands, has received a £750 donation from trunk road operating company, BEAR Scotland (BEAR).

We are committed to supporting the communities we serve, including Brora on the A9, where Highland Wildlife Rescue has been rehabilitating native wildlife since 2023. The charity offers care to species including hedgehogs, bats, red squirrels and rabbits, working tirelessly to give these animals a second chance at life.

The donation will help the charity expand its education and outreach work, increasing awareness of wildlife welfare across the Highlands.

Jane Wilson, Highland Wildlife Rescue Centre Manager, said: “Due to the nature of our  work, unfortunately, we can’t open the centre to the public, which makes raising awareness around animal welfare more challenging. This very generous donation from BEAR will allow us to develop education packs and deliver sessions to local community groups and schools. It will help us share more about what we do and how people can support wildlife across the Highlands.”

Carolyn Gillen, BEAR’s North West Senior Environmental Advisor, said: “I nominated this cause because I have so much respect and admiration for the hands-on wildlife rehabilitation work they undertake, from sick and injured animals to abandoned young.

“They do an amazing job and have released countless animals back to the wild, including many protected and threatened species. I’m so glad that BEAR’s donation will help them  expand their educational outreach activities and continue their lifesaving work for Scotland’s wildlife.”

BEAR supports causes that matter to its employees through its Regional Charity Initiative, allowing staff to nominate and vote for organisations making a difference in their local communities.
