Iain Murray

Managing Director

Iain Murray is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, who joined BEAR Scotland in October 2017 as Managing Director. Iain was previously Commission Director for the Jacobs Arup Joint Venture that assisted Transport Scotland in the delivery of the Queensferry Crossing. His career has focused on the delivery of highways projects through feasibility, public consultation, statutory process, procurement, detailed design and construction. Iain’s top priorities for the business are for everyone to go home safe at the end of the day; to provide a quality service for our client Transport Scotland and the public; and to ensure that BEAR is an employer of choice.

Mark Godsell

Commercial Director

Mark Godsell is Commercial Director for BEAR, having joined the company in 2003. A quantity surveyor with over 30 years’ experience in highways construction and maintenance and is responsible for quantity surveying, procurement and supply chain, and management systems practices. A strong advocate for innovation and business improvement, offering real value to all stakeholders. As a director, Mark offers complete commitment and accessibility to support the delivery of our clients’ objectives.

Martine Brown

Finance Director

Martine Brown has been BEAR’s Finance Director since 2016. She is responsible for the back office functions of Finance, Finance Services, Human Resources and IT. She is a qualified accountant with over 30 years' experience across the aerospace industry, technology R&D, electronics manufacturing and the drinks industry. Martine believes developing strong teams of people working cohesively determines BEAR Scotland’s success as a business.

Andy Thompson

Operating Company Representative - South East Unit

Andy Thompson joined BEAR Scotland in 2003 and has over 30 years’ experience in the highways industry. Andy is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation. As the principle client contact for the Transport Scotland contract his priority is to ensure that everything we do is done safely. Thereafter it is to direct, help and support our teams to ensure they have adequate resources to deliver all of our contract requirements, while ensuring our shareholders get a fair return for their investment. Andy's main drivers are the development of BEAR Scotland's staff and providing tangible improvements to the network we manage.

Euan Scott

Operating Company Representative - North West Unit

Euan Scott joined BEAR Scotland in January 2025 after a four-year secondment from Jacobs, when he was Design Manager for the North West Unit and later Climate Change and Net Zero Manager for the whole company. He also led project management for the £1.35bn Queensferry Crossing for over 17 years, holding key roles including Technical Manager during construction and Chief Resident Engineer following its 2017 opening.
Euan’s top priority is that BEAR delivers each of the services required by the NMC to effectively manage, maintain and safely operate around 880 miles of trunk road across a significant proportion of Scotland, encompassing the Highlands, Argyll and Bute and sections of the central belt.
