WALL REPAIRS ON A9 NEAR DRUMOCHTER CONTINUE

June 15, 2026

  • Works continuing until Tuesday 30 June

  • Single lane closure on southbound carriageway

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, have completed essential repairs on one of two retaining walls alongside the A9 at Drumochter, near General Wade Stone.

The programme has experienced some delays due to operational challenges and is now expected to continue until Tuesday 30 June. Works on the second wall continues between the hours of 7am and 7pm.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, the existing southbound lane closure will remain in place until works are completed. In addition, a barrier has been installed within the closure to provide additional protection to the scaffold and workforce.

Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained for the full duration of the works.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the retaining wall repairs to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Richard Cook, BEAR Scotland’s North West Bridges Manager said: “We have now completed work on the first of two structures on the A9 near Drumochter with works continuing on the second wall. This project will maintain the structural integrity of the walls and help ensure the continued safe operation of the A9 in this location.

“Our teams will continue to carry out these works with safety as our top priority. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete these improvements.”
