 BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland.  We manage and maintain over 2,000km of Scotland’s trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving.

The South East Trunk Road Unit spans 506km through some of the busiest sections of the country, from central Scotland to through the Scottish Borders. Trunk roads in the South East range from the major multi-lane motorways across the central belt to roads through villages in the borders.

The South East Unit includes 870 bridges and structures including the iconic Queensferry Crossing and Forth Road Bridge, as well as other major bridges such as the Kincardine Bridge and Clackmannanshire Bridge.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Trunk Road Incident Liaison Officer to join our existing team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the network manager, you will be responsible for mobilising an effective response to incidents across our South East Network, on 24 hours a day, seven days a week basis.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in monitoring the impact of incidents on journey times for road users
  • Assisting with the management of severe weather incidents and winter maintenance
  • Liaising with the emergency services and trunk road incident support units
  • The deployment of emergency and winter maintenance crews
  • Monitoring road conditions and weather reports
  • Updating databases and associated record keeping

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience :

  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • IT Skills
  • Experience in having successfully fulfilled a role of similar nature such as Emergency/Roads Authority environment will be desirable
  • Ability to work on a shift pattern
