Our Northwest Trunk Road Unit spans over 1,422km of roadways, stretching from the rugged beauty of Thurso and Wick in the far north, down to the coastal charm of Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute. It connects communities from Uig on the Isle of Skye to the historic cities of Perth and Stirling, offering a unique opportunity to work across a landscape that’s as diverse as it is inspiring.

We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and responsible individual to join our team as an Engineers Representative. You will play a key role in interpreting and implementing health and safety standards, with experience in fast-paced or challenging environments desirable.

Reporting to the Northwest Delivery Manager, you will take responsibility for assessing site health and safety set-ups, ensuring engineering instructions are followed, and maintaining a safe environment for contractors and the public.

You will also monitor and report on construction activities, ensuring all work complies with the Manual for Highway Works and the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Ensure a safe working environment for employees, contractors, and the public
• Support delivery of planned maintenance works in line with required standards
• Undertake site measurements to support commercial activities
• Provide accurate daily site reports to the Delivery Manager

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Educated to a high school level or equivalent
• Experience in a team leadership or supervisory role
• Strong awareness of health and safety, with practical experience preferred
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn new systems/technologies
• Full UK manual driving licence (clean licence preferred; minor points considered)
