This is your opportunity to join BEAR Scotland’s expanding communications and engagement team as Media & Communications Officer at an exciting time.

BEAR Scotland currently manages, maintains and improves 2,541km of Scottish trunk road including bridges and structures through some of the most scenic, but challenging, parts of the country. That means delivering £185 million investment on road maintenance and improvement every year. BEAR Scotland has just retained the Transport Scotland contract to manage and maintain trunk roads in the North West of Scotland for at least the next eight years.

As Media & Communications Officer for one of Scotland’s leading roads maintenance and management company’s you will work with the wider engagement team as well as the external public relations agency to help deliver a 24/7 Press Office, to enhance the organisation’s communications and digital content strategy and also to support internal communications needs.

Role includes:

  • Ensuring all communications have a stakeholder and customer focus and educate through the use of messaging.
  • Preparing, designing and creating content such as infographics and videos for social media channels, in-line with digital strategy.
  • Develop and write content for the BEAR website and other marketing literature.
  • Assist with designing and creating quarterly stakeholder newsletters.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Communications, media, digital marketing or marketing degree or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a keen interest in all forms of media, from traditional journalism and broadcast to social media platforms.
  • Experience of writing compelling content such as news articles, social media posts or marketing collateral.
  • An eye for design and the ability to translate ideas into strong digital content and good visuals (video and infographics)
