Landscape Operative

 Location: Perth (Travel across our NW and SE Areas will be required.)

Contract: Fulltime, 40 hours per Week, Monday – Friday, Overtime Available.

 

BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of road maintenance and management services, proudly responsible for the upkeep and enhancement of the country’s vital trunk road network — including bridges and key infrastructure — across some of the most scenic and challenging terrain in the UK.

Since 2000 we have been involved in five generations of Transport Scotland Trunk Road Operating Company contracts covering various areas of Scotland and are presently responsible for approximately 60% of Scotland’s trunk road network. This includes the Northwest and Southeast Scottish Trunk Road Units.

We have an exciting opportunity for Landscape Operative to join our existing team, based in our Head Office in Perth. Reporting to the Landscape Delivery Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out general landscape, environment and maintenance works for BEAR Scotland.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Grass cutting & Strimming
  • Weed Control on roads, verges, embankments and central reserves
  • Application of herbicides
  • Tree & Shrub Maintenance
  • Clearing vegetation around road signs
  • Assisting with Planting activities
  • Installing & maintaining 12D Traffic Management layouts
  • Cyclical maintenance of structures
  • Litter Picking
  • Operating power tools, small plant and machinery
  • Ensuring Health & Safety for the public, colleagues and self
  • Supporting winter maintenance – snow & ice clearing, gritter & plough set up, salt spreading
  • Other duties as required

 

Please note, part of this role will include travel and working away, due to the geographical area covered by the team.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Driving Licence (Preferred)
  • Relevant tickets for Plant Operation, traffic management and Health & Safety (preferred)
  • Awareness of Health & Safety Procedures
  • Experience using small plant and machinery
  • Good Planning & Organisational skills
