Highway Maintenance Operative – South East

We have opportunities for permanent Highway Maintenance Operatives within teams based in Queensferry, Linlithgow, Bonnyrigg, St.Boswells, Chryston and Eyemouth.

Preferably you should be an experienced roadworker with the necessary skills to carry out various road maintenance operations. Training can be provided if necessary. Ideally you should have, as a minimum, an LGV Class 2 Licence (HGV2), and be prepared to participate in our winter and emergency response service on a standby rota basis.

Responsibilities include:

  • The erection and removal of temporary signs and barriers (permanent signs and barriers).
  • Installation and fixing of temporary/permanent road furniture.
  • Operation of power tools, small plant and machinery.
  • Winter maintenance duties which include fitting gritter body and plough, operating winter maintenance vehicles and footway tractors

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • There is a requirement to undertake training and to achieve competence in aspects of the job.
  • Physically fit for working in sometimes arduous conditions.
  • Holding tickets for plant, traffic management, and Health and Safety are an advantage.
  • Full UK driving license preferably at LGV Class C level.
