The slip road from the M9 southbound onto the M8 westbound at M8 Junction 2 (Claylands) will be closed between 20:00 and 04:30 on the nights of 12 to 16 January, to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to upgrade streetlighting.
Traffic on the M9 wishing to join the M8 westbound will be diverted via the M8 eastbound to turn at Junction 1 (Hermiston Gait Roundabout) and return on the M8 westbound. This will add approximately 8 miles and 9 minutes to affected journeys.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s Southeast Network Manager, said: “These electrical and civil engineering works will improve lighting and safety for motorists using this junction.
“it’s essential for the safety that we close the slip road during the works. If you need to use this route, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion.
“We’re grateful to road users for their patience and understanding while we make these improvements.”
Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
