UPGRADING SAFETY BARRIERS ON THE A1 AT GLADSMUIR

March 3, 2022

  • Overnight slip road closure 10 March 2022

The slip road off the southbound A1 at Gladsmuir will be closed on the night of Thursday 10 March.

This is to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to upgrade roadside safety barriers, as part of a wider scheme to upgrade the barrier system on the A1 between Wallyford and Gladsmuir.

A diversion route will be signposted via the A1 southbound to Oaktree Junction, returning to exit the A1 at Gladsmuir Junction via the northbound off-slip.

Emergency services and other relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It is essential that we close the slip road during these works to ensure the safety of road workers and motorists.

“We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their understanding.”
