UPDATE: REVISED DATES FOR A87 RESURFACING WORKS ON SKYE

April 29, 2024

Following previous media releases on resurfacing projects at the A87 Borve and Broadford, please note that dates for both projects have been revised.

A87 Borve, North of Portree

Originally scheduled for 22 to 30 April, surfacing and road marking improvements on the A87 between Drumuie junction and Borve junction will now take place from Monday 22 April to Friday 3 May.

To ensure safety during working hours (7pm to 7am), overnight road closures will be implemented. There will be amnesty periods every hour between 8pm and 4am to allow motorists to pass through the work zone. A temporary 30mph speed limit will be in effect outside working hours due to the temporary road surface.

A87 Broadford

Due to the extension of the Borve project, the resurfacing works on the A87 in Broadford have been rescheduled to Tuesday 7 May, Wednesday 8 May and Thursday 9 May. Originally planned for 29 April to 7 May, these works will now take place over three nights only, between 7pm and 6am.

A 10mph convoy system and temporary traffic lights will be in place, with a 30pmh speed limit outside working hours.  Limited access/egress will be allowed at Pairc Nan Craobh Industrial Estate during working hours.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing projects on the A87 are vital to address wear and tear on the road surface before the summer months. The improved road surface will be more durable, resilient, and ultimately safer for all users.”
