UPDATE: Overnight Essential Surfacing Improvements on A83, Between Ardgartan and Cairndow Rescheduled

November 21, 2022

  • The first project begins on Sunday 4th December for 4 nights.
  • The second project begins on Thursday 8th December for 10 nights.
  • Overnight lane closures with convoy system in place for safety, 7pm to 5am for both projects.

Please be advised that essential surfacing improvements on the A83 south of Butterbridge and A83 west of Honeymoon Bridge, which were due to start on Thursday 24 November, will now get underway on Sunday 4th December.

The projects will see a total of 1,600m of resurfacing carried out on the A83 between Ardgarten and Cairndow, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists.

The improvements will begin on Sunday 4th December for 14 nights, taking place between 7pm and 5am each night, with no works on Friday or Saturday nights. The works will be completed by 5am on Wednesday 21st December, depending on weather.

To ensure the safety of road workers and motorists, there will be lane closures with temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system during working hours.

The road will be open during the day from 5am to keep disruption to a minimum, with a speed restriction of 30mph in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface. Access through the works sites for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Due to the proximity of these works to the A83 Rest and be Thankful, if weather dictates a diversion via the OMR, the works will cease to ensure no additional delays are encountered.
