UPDATE ON MAINTENANCE FOR A9 FINDHORN BRIDGE

August 14, 2025

  • Northbound deck repair now complete
  • Bridge deck repair works to move to the southbound carriageway
  • Contraflow system in place for duration of works

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, has been carrying out essential maintenance work on the the A9 over Findhorn Bridge near Tomatin since Monday 28 April.

Repairs to the northbound carriageway are now complete and this section has now reopened from the evening of Wednesday 13 August.

Works on the southbound carriageway are set to get underway from Friday 15 August with works expected to be completed by Sunday 14 September.

The works involve bridge deck concrete repairs, replacing the waterproofing system and resurfacing the road.

The 30mph contraflow system that was in place will be switched over on Friday 15 August so all traffic will be running on the northbound carriageway across the bridge.

Recovery vehicles will remain on site whilst the contraflow system is in place to lessen delays from broken down vehicles or any incidents that may occur.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said, “The completed stage of the works on the northbound carriageway progressed well with only minor traffic delays. The next stage will see the works on the southbound carriageway get underway in a similar manner.

“We thank all road users and the local community for their patience.”
