UPDATE: A977 ROAD WIDENING: OVERNIGHT CLOSURES

February 10, 2023

  • Overnight road closures Friday 10 February and Monday 13 February 2023
  • Temporary traffic lights each weekday night until end February

Please be advised of a change to the scheduled overnight road closures on the ongoing A977 Kilbagie to Gartarry road widening project.  It is no longer necessary for us to close the road on Sunday night 12 February.

The closures, which are necessary for improvement works on the road, will take place on the nights of Friday 10 February and Monday 13 February 2023.

The A977 north of Kincardine will be closed in both directions on the nights of Friday 10 February and Monday 13 February, as part of the ongoing project to widen the northbound side of the road on the approach to Gartarry Roundabout.

The road will be closed between Kilbagie Roundabout and Gartarry Roundabout from 19:30 until 06:30 each night. A diversion route will be signposted via the A876, M876, M9, A91 and A907 past Stirling and Alloa, adding an estimated 20 miles and 30 minutes to affected journeys.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland began the road widening project on 17 October, with lane closures and temporary traffic lights in place between 19:30 and 06:30 each weekday night since then. The works are programmed to conclude before the end of February.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
