Daytime civil engineering works to allow the installation of traffic signals for a new pedestrian crossing on the A702 in Biggar town centre are set to begin on Monday 16 February and continue until Friday 27 March.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the project between the hours of 06:00 and 18:00 each day, including Saturdays and Sundays.
Temporary four-way traffic signals will be in place between Park Place and Station Road for the duration of the works. These will include designated temporary pedestrian crossings.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “The installation of these traffic lights on the A702 within Biggar town centre will improve safety for both pedestrians and motorists.
“It is essential for the safety of the workforce and the public that we use temporary traffic lights to control traffic while the works are ongoing.
“We thank road users and local residents for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
