BEAR Scotland, which operates and maintains the A92 between Dundee and Arbroath, has donated £750 to MS Therapy Tayside to help the charity continue supporting those with MS and other inflammatory conditions through oxygen therapy.
Through its Regional Charity Initiative, BEAR Scotland encourages employees to nominate charities that matter to them, helping support good causes in the communities where the company works.
Megan McInnes, BEAR Scotland’s Sustainability Adviser, who nominated MS Therapy Tayside for the donation, said: “As someone who has used oxygen treatment, I can appreciate the support the centre provides to patients living with challenging health conditions, allowing them to live fuller and happier lives.
“Supporting this fantastic cause means we can help the dedicated team of volunteers that continue to provide life-changing treatment for those who need it across Tayside.”
MS Therapy Tayside operate an eight-person hyperbaric chamber where those receiving treatment breathe in 100% oxygen in a pressurised environment, helping to stimulate blood vessel growth, increase oxygen levels in the body and reduce inflammation.
Alwyn Vaughan, MS Therapy Tayside Chamber Operator said: “Oxygen therapy isn’t available on the NHS, so we rely solely on charitable donations. This donation will help greatly in keeping the centre running, as parts for a hyperbaric chamber can be expensive.
“We are looking to expand over the next few years to be able to continue to improve the lives of people living in Tayside with a variety of conditions.”
