SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR A96 SOUTH OF KEITH

April 16, 2021

Works start Wednesday 21 April for six nights

Surfacing work is planned for a section of the A96 at Coachford starting next week.

The project will address defects in the road surface on the A96 south of Keith creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

Works will take place overnight from Wednesday 21 April for six nights, between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night. No work will take place on Saturday night.

To keep roadworkers as well as motorists safe during the project, a 10mph convoy system will be in place for safety. The convoy will be removed outwith working hours to help keep disruption to a minimum.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance, will be in place to ensure all site personnel remain safe once the project gets underway.

Commenting on the project, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: “This project will help address defects in the road surface on this section of the A96 near Keith, creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“The traffic management is essential for everyone’s safety however we’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the project, including carrying out the work overnight and removing all traffic management during the daytime.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out this essential surfacing work on the A96. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allowing some extra time to reach their destination.”
