SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR A95 WEST OF CONGASH RESCHEDULED DUE TO OPERATIONAL REASONS

 

Please be advised that surfacing improvements planned for a section of the A95 west of Congash have been rescheduled.

The project had been programmed to get underway from Monday 25 April, however due to operational reasons, this project will now begin on Tuesday 3 May at 8am for five days. No works will take place on Saturday or Sunday. All work is expected to be completed by 5.30pm on Monday 9 May.

Traffic management will remain the same as originally programmed, temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in place between 8am and 5.30pm each day. The convoy system will be removed outwith working hours, however due to the nature of works, temporary traffic signals and a single lane closure may be left in place over some nights.

All relevant stakeholders have been informed of the changes.

Works start Monday 25 April for five days

 

A section of the A95 west of Congash Farm is to benefit from surfacing improvements with work set to get underway on Monday 25 April at 8am.

The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the A95 near Cromdale, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is expected to get underway on Monday 25 April and is programmed to take place over five days. The improvements will be carried out between 8am and 5.30pm each day, with surfacing due to be completed by 5.30pm on Friday 29 April.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, temporary traffic signals with a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. The convoy system will be removed outwith working hours, however due to the nature of the works, temporary traffic signals and a single lane closure may be left in place over some nights.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This surfacing project near Cromdale has been designed to improve the general condition and safety of this section of the A95 for motorists.

“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of both roadworkers and motorists. There may be some delays but our teams will do all they can to complete the scheme as safely and quickly as possible.

“We thank motorists for the patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A95. We encourage them to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
