OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR THE A9 SOUTH OF DALNAMEIN HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED

Please be advised that the surfacing improvements planned for the A9 south of Dalnamein at Crom Bhruthaich have been rescheduled and will now begin on Thursday 7 July.

The project was scheduled to begin on Sunday 10 July; however, it has become possible to start the work earlier and it will now commence on Thursday 7 July for 11 nights between 7pm and 7am.  No works will take place on Friday and Saturday nights and completion of the re-surfacing operation is expected by Friday 22 July, subject to weather conditions.

Traffic management will remain the same as originally planned; to protect roadworkers and road users, a 10mph convoy system and temporary traffic lights will be in place during working hours. Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours; however, a temporary 30mph speed limit will remain in place as vehicles will be travelling over a temporary surface.

All relevant stakeholders have been informed of the changes.

Works to begin from Sunday 10 July for ten nights

A section of the A9 at Crom Bhruthaich, located south of the Dalnamein junction, is to benefit from an improved road surface, with work set to get underway on Sunday 10 July.

The improvements will see a 900 metre section of the A9 resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer route for road users.

The works are expected to take place over ten nights between 7pm and 7am and are programmed to be completed by 7am on Friday 22 July, subject to weather conditions. No works will take place on Friday or Saturday nights.

To protect roadworkers and road users, a 10mph convoy system and temporary traffic lights will be in place during working hours. Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours; however, a temporary 30mph speed limit will remain in place as vehicles will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s Representative for the North West, said: “This surfacing project at Crom Bhruthaich will greatly improve the quality and safety of this section of the A9 for road users.

“The traffic management proposed is essential for the safety of our roadworkers as well as motorists. We have taken steps to minimise disruption by avoiding works at the weekend and removing traffic management outwith working hours.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
