SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR THE A85 BETWEEN CRIEFF AND LOCHEARNHEAD HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED

Please be advised that due to operational reasons, surfacing improvements planned for the A85 between Crieff and Lochearnhead have been rescheduled and will now require an additional night to complete the works.

The project was due to begin on Thursday 9 June and was expected to be complete by Tuesday 14 June. However due to operational reasons, the works have been rescheduled to begin on Sunday 12 June and require an additional overnight road closure to complete resurfacing operations. The works will now take place over two days and three nights, with all works expected to be complete by 5am on Wednesday 15 June.

Traffic management will remain the same as originally planned, with the schedule of works as follows:

  • A85 approach to A84 junction – Sunday 12 June to Tuesday 14 June (three nights 8pm to 5am)

To allow the works to be completed safely, a road closure will be in place in Lochearnhead at the A84/ A85 junction during working hours. A signed diversion route will be operated utilising the A85, A822, A823, A820 and A84. Amnesty periods will be provided at 9pm, 10pm, 12am, 2am and 4am when traffic will be escorted through the site using a 10mph convoy system.

  • A85 east of Comrie Croft – Monday 13 June to Tuesday 14 June (two days, 7am to 7pm)

To protect roadworkers and road users, a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours.

Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours; however, a temporary 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Works begin Thursday 9 June for two days and two nights

  • Overnight road closures in place from Sunday 12 June for two nights

Two locations on the A85 between Crieff and Lochearnhead are to benefit from an improved road surface with work set to get underway from Thursday 9 June.

The improvements will see just over 700 metres of the A85 resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists.

The works are scheduled to begin on Thursday 9 June and are expected to take place over two days and two nights, with all works completed by 5am Tuesday 14 June subject to weather conditions. No works will take place on Saturday 11 June.

The schedule of works is as follows:

  • A85 east of Comrie Croft – Thursday 9 June to Friday 10 June (two days, 7am to 7pm)

To protect roadworkers and road users, a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours.

  • A85 approach to A84 junction – Sunday 12 June to Monday 13 June (two nights 8pm to 5am)

Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours; however, a temporary 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s Representative for the North West, said: “This surfacing project will improve the quality and safety of this section of the A85 for road users.

“The traffic management proposed, involving convoy working and road closures, is essential for the safety of roadworkers and motorists given the narrow road widths at these locations. We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by programming the road closures to be in operation overnight.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
