SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR A82 SOUTH OF SPEAN BRIDGE

September 19, 2023

  • Works to begin on Monday 25 September for ten days.
  • Convoy in place.

On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland is set to embark on vital surfacing improvements along the A82 South of Spean Bridge, with work scheduled to commence on Monday 25 September.

The project will enhance sections of the A82 South of Spean Bridge, providing a smoother and safer driving experience for all road users.

The project will span over ten days, with operations undertaken between 7am and 7pm daily. All work will conclude by 7pm on Friday 20 October, depending on weather conditions. No works will take place between Monday 9 October and Sunday 15 October and there will be no work on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays).

To ensure the safety of both road workers and motorists, a convoy system, limiting speeds to 10 mph, will be enforced during operational hours.

Ahead of the resurfacing improvements, BEAR Scotland carried out a comprehensive stakeholder consultation including information on the working times and convoy traffic management arrangements for the works.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said, “This project on the A82 will effectively address road defects and significantly enhance road surface quality for motorists. The implementation of a convoy traffic management system during operational hours is paramount to safeguard the well-being of both our road workers and motorists. We extend our gratitude to the local community and road users for their anticipated patience during the work. We strongly encourage drivers to plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
