SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS ON A9 NEAR NEWTONMORE

June 6, 2025

  • Works starting Monday 23 June

  • Overnight lane closures with convoy

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s North West trunk road operating company, is set to start essential resurfacing improvements on the A9 at Braes of Nuide, between the Newtonmore and Kingussie junctions, from Monday 23 June for six nights.

Works will be carried out between 8pm and 6am each working night until Tuesday 1 July. No works will be undertaken on Friday or Saturday nights.

To ensure the safety of both workers and road users, overnight lane closures will be in place with a convoy system to safely escort traffic through the work site.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This crucial surfacing project on the A9 at Braes of Nuide will fix existing defects and significantly enhance the driving experience for all road users.

“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.

“To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
