STRUCTURAL INSPECTIONS ON FOOTBRIDGES OVER M80

February 21, 2024

  • Work to take place overnight from 27 February for three nights

  • Overnight carriageway closures required between 8pm to 6am

Essential inspections of the structural cables are required on Westfield and Dowanfield footbridges over the M80 between junctions 4 and 6 to allow teams to inspect the cables for any potential defects and/or possible maintenance requirements.

To progress these works, the inspections are set to get underway from Tuesday 27 February and are expected to be carried out over three consecutive nights between 8pm and 6am each night, depending on weather.

To keep the workforce, as well as road users, safe, sections of the M80 will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am, with signed diversions in place.  There will be no traffic restrictions out-with these times.

Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
