SAFETY BARRIER UPGRADES ON THE A7 BETWEEN HAWICK AND ARKLETON

August 6, 2021

  • Daytime lane closures between 9-30 August 2021

A series of safety barriers on the A7 between Hawick and Arkleton will be upgraded from the 9-30 August 2021 by Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland.

For the safety of workers and road users, there will be lane closures on short sections of the A7 on a rolling basis from 07:30 until 17:30 from the 9 to 30 August.

Traffic management will be removed after each day of work, allowing for both lanes to remain in use in the evenings.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These safety barrier upgrades will improve safety for motorists on this section of the A7.

“Lane closures are essential for safety while also minimising disruption as these works take place. We will do all we can to ensure that the works are complete in good time and thank motorists in advance for their patience”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.trafficscotland.org for up to date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.
