BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland are set to carry out barrier replacement works on the A83, approximately 600 metres north of Clachan, on the Kintyre Peninsula, from Monday 17 November.
This upgrade will involve the replacement of all barriers, and upgrades to existing bollards and signage.
Works will be carried out Monday to Friday during daylight hours.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, traffic will be controlled by two-way traffic lights and a 30mph speed restriction, taking traffic down to a single lane. These will remain in operation 24 hours a day until works are complete.
Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained for the full duration of the works.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the barrier improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These barrier replacement works on the A83 north of Clachan will help to protect road users and ensure continued safe operation of the A83 trunk road.
“Our teams will carry out these works quickly, with safety as our top priority. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.”
