ROAD RESURFACING ON THE A85 BETWEEN GLEN OGLE AND CRIANLARICH

October 9, 2026

  • Works planned at five locations between Sunday 18 October and Wednesday 2 December

  • Overnight traffic management restrictions required until 5 November

  • Daytime works proposed from Monday 9 November until Wednesday 2 December

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to deliver a programme of road resurfacing at multiple locations on the A85 between Glen Ogle and Crianlarich from Sunday 18 October.

A total of five sites are to be resurfaced, requiring traffic management measures to be provided at the following locations:

  • Glen Ogle Burn (overnight): Sunday 18 October until the morning of Monday 26 October – road closures with hourly amnesties provided at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 1am, 2am, 3am, 4am and 5am to allow waiting vehicles to be escorted safely through the worksite
  • West of St Fillans (overnight): Tuesday 27 October until the morning of Wednesday 28 October – traffic lights with convoy
  • Crianlarich (overnight): Wednesday 28 October until the morning of Thursday 5 November – traffic lights with convoy
  • East of Crianlarich (daytime): Monday 9 November until Friday 20 November – traffic lights with convoy
  • Ardchyle to Old Flax Mill (daytime): Monday 23 November until Wednesday 2 December – traffic lights with convoy

Overnight works are scheduled between 7pm and 6am, Sunday 18 October to Thursday 5 November, with no works on Friday or Saturday nights. Daytime weekday only works are planned between 8am and 5pm, Monday 9 November to Wednesday 2 December.

Where temporary traffic lights are in use, a reduced speed limit will be setup on the approach to the site and traffic will be guided through the works, at 10mph, by a convoy vehicle.

All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours, however a 30mph speed limit will be in place to ensure vehicles can pass safely over the temporary road surface.

Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained for the full duration of the works.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Euan Burnett, BEAR Scotland’s North West Planned Maintenance Manager said: “These road resurfacing works on the A85 will address existing defects in the road surface, improving the quality and safety of the route for road users.

“Traffic management is necessary to complete these improvements safely, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance of the work commencing.”
