BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will undertake a programme of overnight resurfacing works on the A82 at three locations in Fort William, beginning on Sunday 10 May.
The works are required to address defects within the existing carriageway and will help ensure the long term durability, resilience, and safety of this key section of the trunk road network.
The resurfacing will be delivered in three phases and carried out overnight between 7:00pm and 6:00am. To protect both the workforce and road users, a convoy traffic management system will be in operation, with vehicles escorted safely through the works at approximately 10mph.
To minimise disruption, no works will take place on Friday or Saturday nights, nor during the period Monday 18 May to Thursday 21 May inclusive. Temporary traffic management will be removed outwith working hours, and the road will be fully reopened during the day:
Steve Taylor, BEAR Scotland’s North West Design Manager, said “These essential resurfacing works will provide a significant upgrade to the existing road surface and allow for the installation of new road markings, improving both the quality and safety of the A82 through Fort William.
“We would like to thank road users, residents and local businesses for their patience while these important improvements are carried out.”
Road users are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow additional time when travelling during the works. Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.traffic.gov.scot, X @trafficscotland or on the mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.
