RESURFACING WORKS ON A82 SOUTH OF GROTAIG

May 20, 2026

  • Works start on Sunday 31 May

  • Road closure with amnesties

BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out surfacing works on the A82 South of Grotaig, between Invermoriston and Drumnadrochit,  starting from Sunday 31 May.

The works will be carried out between the hours of 8pm and 6am and are anticipated to be completed by the morning of Monday 8 June, subject to weather conditions.  No works will be carried out on Friday and Saturday.

To protect the workforce and road users, the carriageway will be closed in both directions each working night. Amnesties will be provided at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am to allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site.

Emergency service vehicles will be able to pass through the site throughout the working period.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Steve Taylor, BEAR Scotland’s North West Design Manager, said: “These maintenance works on the A82 South of Grotaig will fix defects and improve the surface for road users.

“We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.traffic.gov.scot, X @trafficscotland or on the mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
