RESURFACING WORKS AT THE A82 GLENURQUHART ROAD, INVERNESS EXTENDED BY ONE NIGHT

May 26, 2023

Night time roadworks

  • One additional night of work on Friday 26 May.
  • Full road closure between 8pm and 6am.
  • Diversion in place.

Resurfacing improvements being carried out on the A82 Glenurquhart Road, Inverness by BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, have been extended by one night and will now be completed by 6am on Saturday 27 May.

The works, which are replacing a 640m stretch of worn-out carriageway, were due to finish by the morning of Friday 26 May, but extra time is needed to complete the project.

Due to the nature of the works, the full overnight road closure which has been in place this week will be extended to the night of Friday 26 May, to protect roadworkers and motorists. A signed diversion route will be in place. Access from local roads on to the A82 will also be restricted and local signed diversions will be in place.

  • A82 northbound diversion: traffic will be diverted from the A82 at Torvean Roundabout onto General Booth Road/King Brude Road, then onto the A862 to A82 Telford Street Roundabout. Traffic will then continue to destination.

  • A82 southbound diversion: traffic will be diverted along the A82 to Telford Roundabout, then onto the A862 and turning into General Booth Road/King Brude Road, then onto A82 at Torvean Roundabout. Traffic will then continue to destination.

Access through the works site for local residents and emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These works on the A82 will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for motorists.

“The overnight closures are essential for the safety of road workers and motorists. We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by carrying out the work overnight and by providing a signed diversion for traffic to follow.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
