Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is set to resurface 1.4 kilometres of carriageway on the slip road exiting the M8 eastbound at Junction 3, Livingston.
The eastbound carriageway of the M8 between Junctions 3A and 3 will be closed between 20:30 and 06:00 on the nights of 17, 18, 19 and 20 March, while the start of the slip road is resurfaced. A signed diversion route will be in place form Junction4, via the A7066 and A89, adding approximately 7 minutes and 2 miles to affected journeys.
The M8 Junction 3 eastbound off-slip will then be closed between 20:30 and 06:00 on the nights of 23 to 27 March, 30 and 31 March. On these nights, eastbound traffic on the M8 wishing to exit at Junction 3 will be diverted to Newbridge and back, exiting via the Junction 3 westbound off-slip. This will add approximately 12 minutes and 11.9 miles to affected journeys.
Due to the depth of construction, one lane on the slip road will be remain closed during the daytime on 18, 19 and 20 March to allow materials to cool.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South-East Network Manager, said: “It is essential for safety that we close these sections of carriageway while resurfacing takes place.
“We’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise disruption, however we appreciate that this will cause delays for some people and thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding.
“If you need to use this route during the works, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion.”
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
