BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface a section of the westbound M8 between Junctions 2 and 3, near Roman Camp.
To allow the works to be carried out safely, the westbound carriageway of the M8 will be closed from Junction 2 to Junction 3 from 20:30 until 06:00 on the nights of Wednesday 19 November to Friday 21 November, and Monday 24 November to Wednesday 26 November.
During these overnight closures, a signed diversion route for westbound traffic will be in place from Junction 2 via the M9 to Newbridge Roundabout, then the A89 to Dechmont Roundabout and the A899 to rejoin the M8 westbound at Junction 3 from Livingston East Roundabout. This diversion will add approximately 14 minutes and 7.1 miles onto journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times and all traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve the road quality and safety for motorists using this section of the M8, while making use of sustainable techniques to minimise the environmental impact of the works.
“If you need to travel on the M8 westbound during the works, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion.
“We thank motorists in advance for their patience and understanding.”
All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
