RESURFACING THE NORTHBOUND M9 BETWEEN JUNCTION 8 & 9

May 25, 2023

  • Four overnight carriageway closures commence 9 June 2023

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface a total of 1.4 kilometres of the northbound M9 in two separate areas between Junctions 8 and 9.

The work will take place between the hours of 19:30 until 06:00 on the nights of Friday 9 June, Monday 12 June, Tuesday 13 June and Wednesday 14 June.

A diversion route for northbound traffic will be signposted from M9 Junction 7 to M9 Junction 9, via M876 Junction 3, the A905, A88, A9 and A91. This diversion will add approximately 14 minutes and 5.6 miles to affected journeys.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve ride quality and safety for motorists using this section of the M9.

“A carriageway closure is essential for the safety of workers and road users, however we’ve scheduled the works overnight to minimise disruption.

“If you do need to travel during these works, please allow some extra time for your journey.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
