BEAR Scotland, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, is to carry out essential resurfacing works on the southbound carriageway of the M9 between Junctions 8 and 7, on the nights of Monday 20 July to Thursday 23 July between 19:30 and 06:00 each night.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, it will be necessary to close the southbound carriageway of the M9 from Junction 9 to Junction 7 during these works.
A signed diversion route will be in place form M9 Junction 9 via the A91 eastbound to Greencornhills Roundabout, the A9 southbound to North Broomage Roundabout, the A88 (Bellsdyke Rd) eastbound to South Bellsdyke Roundabout, and the A905 northbound to join the M876 at Bowtrees before re-joining the M9 at Junction 7. This diversion will add approximately 4.8 miles and 15 minutes to journey times.
The M876 eastbound will also be closed from Junction 2, with traffic joining the same diversion route from North Broomage Roundabout.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South-East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve the road quality and safety for motorists using this section of the M9, while making use of sustainable techniques to minimise the environmental impact of the works.
“We’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise disruption as far possible. If you need to use this route during overnight carriageway closures, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion.”
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times, and all traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
