RESURFACING THE M876 WESTBOUND NEAR DENNYLOANHEAD

June 12, 2025

  • Overnight carriageway closures 30 June to 3 July 2025

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface a section of the westbound M876 near Dennyloanhead, between M876 Junction 1 Checkbar and the merge with the M80 at Junction 8 Bankhead.

To allow the works to be carried out safely, the westbound carriageway of the M876 will be closed at Junction 1 from 19:30 until 06:00 on the nights of Monday 30 June, Tuesday 1 July, Wednesday 2 July and Thursday 3 July.

During these closures, a signed diversion route will be in place between M876 Junction 1 and M80 Junction 7, via Checkbar Roundabout, the A883, the Three Bridges Roundabout and the A803. This diversion will add approximately 12 minutes and 5.8 miles onto affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times and all traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.

Consultation has been carried out with relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will address defects within the carriageway, ensuring the integrity and safety of the motorway at this location.

“The works have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption, however if you do need to use this route our advice is to plan ahead and allow some extra time for the diversion.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience and understanding.”

All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
