RESURFACING THE M876 EASTBOUND PRIOR TO JUNCTION 2

December 1, 2023

  • Overnight carriageway closure Friday 8 December 2023

The eastbound carriageway of the M876 on the approach to Junction 2 Glenbervie will be closed for resurfacing on the night of Friday 8 December between 19:30 and 06:00.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the works, renewing 600 metres of surfacing to create smoother and safer journeys for motorists on this section of the motorway.

A signed diversion route will be in place from where the M876 diverges from the M80. Traffic will be diverted northbound on the M80 towards Junction 9 where they will join the M9 eastbound before returning to the M876 at Junction 7 for onward travel. This diversion route will add approximately 6 minutes and 5.4 miles to affected journeys.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It is essential for safety that we close this section of carriageway while resurfacing take place.

“We’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise disruption, however we appreciate that this will cause delays for some people and thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding.”

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
