RESURFACING THE M80 JUNCTION 9 NORTHBOUND OFFSLIP

May 25, 2023

  • Overnight slip road closure on Thursday 8 June 2023

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 0.6 kilometres of the slip road exiting the northbound M80 at Junction 9 Pirnhall.

The works will take place on the night of Thursday 8 June.

For the safety of workers and road users, the northbound off-slip at M80 Junction 9 will be closed between 19:30 and 06:00 on this night.

A signed diversion route will be in place for M80 northbound traffic. Traffic will continue on the M80 northbound carriageway merging onto the M9, travelling to Junction 10 where they will turn and head southbound along the M9 towards the Junction 9 southbound off-slip. This diversion route will add approximately 10 minutes and 9.4 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve the ride quality and safety for motorists on this section of the M80.

“The road closure is essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption. We thank motorists in advance for their patience.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
