RESURFACING THE EASTBOUND M876

August 2, 2022

  • Six overnight carriageway closures begin Monday 15 August 2022

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 0.8 kilometres of the eastbound M876 after Junction 2, over six nights beginning on Monday 15 August.

For the safety of workers and road users, the eastbound carriageway of the M876 will be closed after Junction 2 from 19:30 until 06:00 each night from Monday to Friday. No works are scheduled for Saturday or Sunday nights, therefore the project is expected to conclude on the morning of Tuesday 23 August.

A diversion route will be signposted from the M876 Junction 2 off-slip, via the A88 Bellsdyke Road and the A905 to join the M876 eastbound at Junction 3 Bowtrees. This diversion will add an estimated 6 minutes and 3 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve ride quality and safety for motorists using the M876.

“Carriageway closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption. We thank motorists in advance for their patience.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
