RESURFACING THE EASTBOUND M8 AT JUNCTIONS 4 AND 4A

May 19, 2022

Overnight carriageway closure 20 May 2022

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 0.65 kilometres of the eastbound carriageway of the M8 at Junction 4.

The works will take place on the night of Friday 20 May.

For the safety of workers and road users, the eastbound carriageway of the M8 will be closed from Junction 4a to Junction 4 between 20:30 and 06:00 on this nights.

A signed diversion route will be in place directing eastbound traffic by taking motorists off at Junction 4a EB and diverting them B7006, A706, A801 before returning to the M8 at Junction 4. This diversion will add approximately 5 minutes and 1.3 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve ride quality and safety for motorists using these sections of the M8.

“Carriageway closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption. We thank motorists in advance for their patience.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
