RESURFACING THE EASTBOUND M8 APPROACH TO JUNCTION 3A

August 25, 2021

  • Overnight carriageway closure on Friday 27 August 2021

The eastbound carriageway of the M8 between Junctions 4 and 3A will be closed for resurfacing between 20:30 and 06:00 on Friday 27 August.

The works will be carried out by BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company.

A signed diversion route will direct eastbound motorists from M8 Junction 4 to the Junction 3A, via the A801, the A7066, Boghall Roundabout and the A779. This diversion will add an estimated 7 minutes and 3.6 miles to affected journeys.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said:

“These essential works will renew the road surface and remove defects such as cracks and potholes.

“It’s essential for safety that we close the carriageway while work is in progress, however we’ve scheduled the works overnight to minimise any disruption.

“If you do need to use this route on the night of Friday 27 August, our advice is to plan ahead and allow a few minutes extra for your journey.”
