RESURFACING ON THE A84 SOUTH OF DOUNE

May 20, 2026

Updated 2 June 2026: Works on the A84 south of Doune could not begin on Thursday 28 May as planned due to emergency resurfacing works elsewhere. The works have now been reprogrammed to start on Sunday 14 June. Please see new dates below.

  • Resurfacing works start on Sunday 14 June

  • Three-way traffic lights with convoy

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to carry out a programme of essential improvement works on the A84 at two locations south of Doune, starting from Sunday 14 June.

Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 6am each working night.

  • A84 Kirk Lane Junction (B8075): Sunday 14 June to the morning of Tuesday 16 June
  • A84 Aberfoyle Junction (A873): Tuesday 16 June to the morning of Wednesday 17 June

To protect the workforce and road user, a 10mph convoy system will be in operation under three-way traffic lights.

Outwith working hours, a 30mph speed restriction will be in place due to there being no road markings. Access through the work sites for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Short, signed diversions via the slip roads will be in place to allow road users to travel between the A84 and the junctions for A873 Aberfoyle and B8075 Kirk Lane. Both diversions will add approximately 7 miles and 9 minutes to journey times.

Steve Taylor, BEAR Scotland’s North West Design Manager, said: “This carriageway resurfacing will fix existing defects in the road surface and improve road markings, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.

“Our teams are committed to completing these works efficiently, with safety as our top priority. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.

“To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
