May 21, 2026

  • Works start on Wednesday 3 June

  • Road closure with amnesties

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland is set to carry out a programme of overnight carriageway resurfacing works on the A83 between Bellochantuy and Tangy from Wednesday 3 June.

Works will be carried out in two phases, between the hours of 7pm and 6am, as follows:

  • A83 North of Bellochantuy – Wednesday 3 June to morning of Thursday 11 June
  • A83 Tangy – Thursday 11 June to morning of Wednesday 17 June

To protect the workforce and road users, the A83 will be closed each working night with hourly amnesties provided at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 1am 2am, 3am, 4am and 5am to allow vehicles to pass through the work site safely. There will be no road closures on Friday or Saturday nights.

The road will be open as normal from 6am each day to keep disruption to a minimum, however a speed restriction of 30mph will remain in place as traffic will be running over a temporary road surface.

Access for emergency services will be maintained for the full duration of the works.

These works are part of a wider A83 resurfacing programme and dates are subject to change depending on the progress of each of the preceding schemes.

Steve Taylor, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These surfacing works on the A83 will fix existing defects in the area and improve safety for road users.

“Our teams will carry out these works safely and efficiently. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.”
