RENEWING ROAD MARKINGS AND ROAD STUDS ON THE M8

August 20, 2021

  • 14 overnight carriageway and lane closures begin Monday 23 August

A series of overnight carriageway closures and lane closures is planned on the M8, to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to renew road markings and road studs on the motorway between Junctions 1 and 6.

For the safety of workers and road users during these works, sections of the M8 will be closed from 21:30 until 06:00 on 14 weekday nights between Monday 23 August and Thursday 9 September. No works are programmed to take place on Saturday or Sunday nights.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These road marking and road stud improvements will significantly improve safety for motorists using the M8.

“Lane and carriageway closures are essential to ensure the safety of workers and road users, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption and will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible.

“We will also take advantage of these closures to carry out other cyclic and minor maintenance work where possible.”
