PUBLIC VIEWS SOUGHT ON ROAD SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS AND ENHANCING ACTIVE TRAVEL ON A82 IN INVERNESS

August 2, 2021

  • Public input will help inform road safety improvements between Longman Roundabout and Telford Roundabout

Members of the public are invited to share their views on potential road safety improvements for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists on the A82 between Longman Roundabout and Telford Roundabout in Inverness.

The input from the public will help inform engineers at BEAR Scotland and Transport Scotland ahead of developing the next stage of designs to improve safety for all users of this section of the A82 and encourage more active travel in Inverness.

Members of the public are invited to share their thoughts through a unique interactive map available through the BEAR Scotland website.  Users can add their comments to the map and have their say on what changes they would like to see to improve road safety and active travel on this section of the A82.

The interactive map is open for the public to comment on until Thursday 30 September.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “We’re committed to improving road safety on the A82 in Inverness, and this engagement exercise follows on from the work we’ve recently been carrying out to install pedestrian crossings at Montague Row and Smith Avenue which has made a real difference to road safety.

“Due to the complexity of the dual carriageway section of the A82 through Inverness, we are keen to involve the local community as early as possible in this investigation to ensure we understand and identify the concerns of local road users and their aspirations for this section of the trunk road.

“This will allow us to develop potential schemes which reflect the needs of local users in the locations where people experience the greatest issues and identify where improvements should be made.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to share their thoughts on how we can work with Transport Scotland to improve road safety and active travel on the route, and we welcome any comments from the public.”
