Resurfacing schemes are planned on most routes. Road closures will be required to carry out these works, however they will be scheduled at night wherever possible to minimise disruption. Drainage and safety barrier upgrade works can usually be carried out under lane closures only. Other works such as bridge refurbishment schemes may require temporary traffic lights or more significant traffic management arrangements.
Major works are scheduled to refurbish the deck of Galafoot Bridge, which carries the A6091 over the River Tweed south of Galashiels. Works on site are expected to begin in August. During re-waterproofing and resurfacing works, the A6091 over the bridge will remain open to westbound traffic only, with diversion routes in place for eastbound traffic. This arrangement will continue for between six and ten weeks, depending on weather conditions.
On the M90, the ongoing project to refurbish Masterton Viaduct at Junction 2 is nearing completion and is expected to conclude around the end of August. Resurfacing works are planned near M90 Junction 3 later in the autumn, and a programme of drainage improvement works is taking place from Junction 1A to Junction 2. Our annual programme of overnight cyclic maintenance works on the M90 was completed in July, and similar works will take place on the A823(M) in early August.
On the M8, street lighting upgrade works at Hermiston Gait interchange began in July and will continue into October. Resurfacing schemes are planned on the M8 eastbound prior to Junction 3 and at Hermiston, and at various locations on the westbound carriageway. Drainage and barrier upgrade works will be carried out under lane closures only.
On the M9, our annual programme of cyclic maintenance works is due to commence at the end of August and continue into October. Bridge works are planned near Junctions 10, Craigforth, and Junction 1, Newbridge. Resurfacing will take place at Junction 7 southbound in late July. Drainage and barrier upgrade works are also scheduled.
Major bridge and gantry replacement works on the M80 are now complete, however overnight works to refresh road markings will take place towards the end of the summer.
On the M876, resurfacing works on the eastbound carriageway towards Junction 3 Bowtrees will take place at the end of July. Landscaping works will take place from Dennyloanhead to Falkirk, and drainage works are scheduled at Junction 1.
Works to refurbish the deck on Kincardine Bridge on the A985 will commence in September, with temporary traffic lights in place for ten weeks.
On the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass, hard standing, safety barrier, drainage and retaining wall works are planned near Calder and Baberton, and landscaping works will take place in the Bonaly and Torphin areas.
On the A702, resurfacing schemes are planned near Causewayend, Coulter and Flotterstone. Trial measures to improve traffic flow will be implemented at Lothianburn Junction, and drainage improvement works will be carried out between Hillend and Nine Mile Burn.
Resurfacing schemes are scheduled on the A7 around Footsburn, Ashkirk, and Canonbie. Footway improvement works will also be carried out in Selkirk.
On the A68, resurfacing will take place south of Lilliardsedge, south of Lauder, north of Pathhead and on Lauder High Street. Landscaping works are scheduled south of Carfraemill.
On the A1, resurfacing works are planned on the Wallyford northbound on-slip in late September. Drainage schemes will take place near Grantshouse and Coldingham, and landscaping works will be carried out on the northern section of the route.
