OVERNIGHT SURFACING ON A83 NORTH OF STONEFIELD JUNCTION

October 14, 2025

  • Works start on Tuesday 21 October

  • Overnight road closures with hourly amnesties

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will undertake essential carriageway improvements on the A83  north of Stonefield junction starting on Tuesday 21 October.
Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 6am each working night, with no works planned on Friday or Saturday evenings.
To protect the workforce and road users, this section of the A83 will be closed each night from 7pm on Tuesday 21 October until 6am on Tuesday 28 October.
Hourly amnesties will be available at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 1am 2am, 3am, 4am and 5am so road users can pass through the work site safely and continue their journeys.
The road will be open as normal from 6am each working day to keep disruption to a minimum, however a speed restriction of 30mph will remain in place as traffic will be running over a temporary road surface.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These surfacing works will fix existing defects on this section of the A83 and improve safety for road users.
“Our teams are committed to executing these works quickly and with safety as our top priority. We’re grateful to the local community and road users for their patience.
“To minimise delays, we recommend that road users plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
