OVERNIGHT SURFACING ON A82 BRIDGE OF ORCHY

July 17, 2025

Update 4 August 2025: Due to the Met Office amber weather warning, works on the A82 Bridge of Orchy are cancelled tonight (Monday 4 August). Works are planned to resume on Tuesday 5 August. Please see new dates below.

  • Works begin on Sunday 3 August for three nights

  • Overnight road closures in place until the morning of Thursday 7 August

BEAR Scotland, operating on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out overnight road resurfacing on the A82 at Bridge of Orchy from Sunday 3 August.

The road surfacing improvements will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 5am each night with all works expected to be completed by the morning of Thursday 7 August.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, this section of the A82 will be closed in both directions each night between 7pm and 5am. During periods of closure, amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am will allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site. Outwith working hours traffic management will be removed, however, a 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained for the full duration of  the works. An alternative route is also available via the A85 and A828 for those who do not wish to wait for an amnesty.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will fix existing issues with the road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.

“We thank motorists for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
