OVERNIGHT JUNCTION CLOSURE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS ON THE A9 SOUTH OF EVANTON

Please be advised that for operational reasons, overnight closures of the A9/B817 junction located to the south of Evanton will be required to complete ongoing road surfacing improvements in the area.

Resurfacing of a section of the A9 at Evanton commenced on Sunday 3 July for 15 nights with a 10mph convoy system in place.  However, to ensure the safety of our roadworkers as well as motorists whilst surfacing operations take place near the A9/B817 junction, overnight closures of the A9/B817 junction are required for one week from Thursday 14 July.

Works will take place between 7pm and 7am each night, excluding Friday 15 and Saturday 16 July, and it is anticipated that all works will be complete by Friday 22 July, subject to weather conditions.

When overnight closures of the A9/B817 junction are in place, a diversion route via the junction at Skiach Services will be utilised to maintain local access to and from the A9.  The A9/B817 junction will be open to traffic outwith working hours.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Project to begin on Sunday 3 July for 15 nights

Motorists using the A9 south of Evanton are set to benefit from an improved road surface, with works due to get underway on Sunday 3 July.

The improvements will see over 1km of the A9 resurfaced, creating smoother and safer journeys for road users.

The project is expected to take place over 15 nights, between 7pm and 7am. No works will take place Friday and Saturday nights. All works are expected to be completed by 7am on Friday 22 July, subject to weather conditions.

For the safety of roadworkers and road users, a 10mph convoy system and temporary traffic lights will be in place during working hours. Traffic management will be removed during daytime periods; however, a 30mph speed limit will be in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This surfacing project on the A9 south of Evanton will help to address defects and greatly improve the route for road users.

“The planned convoy system is essential to completing the works safely; however, we’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project as best we can by undertaking the works at night and removing traffic management during the day.

“We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance and encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
