March 16, 2022

Works begin Thursday 17 March for six nights

A section of the A85 between Gilmerton and Crieff is to benefit from an improved road surface with work set to get underway from Thursday 17 March at 7pm.

The improvements will see just over 1km of the A85 resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin on Thursday 17 March and is expected to take six  nights to complete. Works are programmed to take place between 7pm and 7am each night, excluding Friday and Saturday night. All works are expected to be complete by 7am on Friday 25 March, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of motorists as well as roadworkers, a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours, however a temporary 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s Representative for the North West, said: “This surfacing project between Gilmerton and Crieff will greatly improve the quality and safety of this section of the A85 for road users.

“The traffic management is necessary to protect roadworkers as well as motorists. There may be some delays however we have taken steps to minimise disruption by carrying out the works overnight and our team will do their best to conduct the works as quickly and safely as possible.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
