OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR A82 SOUTH OF TARBET

August 26, 2021

Works to begin from Sunday 29 August for seven nights

A section of the A82 south of Tarbet is to benefit from an improved road surface with work set to get underway from Sunday.

The improvements will see almost 700 metres of the A82 resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists.

The works are scheduled to begin on Sunday 29 August and are expected to take place over

nine nights between 8pm and 6am. All work is scheduled to be completed by 6am Tuesday 7 September, subject to weather conditions. No works are planned for Friday and Saturday nights.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, a 10mph convoy system will be in place whilst works are being undertaken. Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours, however a temporary 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s Representative for the North West, said: “This surfacing project south of Tarbet will greatly improve the quality and safety of this section of the A82 for road users.

“The traffic management proposed is essential to ensure the safety of our teams and motorists, however we have taken steps to minimise disruption by carrying out the works overnight and avoiding working during the busier evenings associated with the weekend.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
