OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS ON A828 BENDERLOCH

October 21, 2025

Updated 24 October 2025: Due to changes to our programme of works, resurfacing on the A828 at Benderloch will now start on Wednesday 5 November. Please see new dates below.
  • Works start on Wednesday 5 November

  • Overnight road closures with amnesties

  • 30mph speed limit during the day

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to carry out overnight surfacing works on the A828 at Benderloch from Wednesday 5 November.
Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 6am each night and are expected to be completed by the morning of Monday 17 November. No works will take place on Friday or Saturday nights.
To protect the workforce and road users, the A828 will be closed in both directions each night. During the closures, amnesties will be provided at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am to allow waiting vehicles to be safely escorted through the site.
Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours; however, a reduced speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface. There are also additional traffic lights in place at Ledaig that will remain in place 24 hours a day.
Emergency service vehicles will be able to pass through the site throughout the working period. Whilst resurfacing is carried out, bus stops will be temporarily moved.
Works will be carried out in stages to minimise the impacted areas. The South Shian road adjacent to Victory Hall will be restricted during the closures however an alternative access point is available for this road.  Access to properties and junctions within the closure will be maintained within the provided amnesty periods. Exit from properties and junctions within the closure will be maintained under escort whenever safe to do so.
Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential works will upgrade the existing road, greatly improving the road surface quality and safety for road users. We thank road users for their patience.”
